III Cup of Russia on Snow and Ice Sculpture "Zimniy Vernissage" in category “Snow Sculpture” finished in Perm.
The Cup of Russia on Snow and Ice Sculpture "Zimniy Vernissage" is the only competition in the country that has an official status, and it is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
Though the history of the Competition is not long, the Cup became one of the most high-status event in sphere of ice and snow carving. The participants of the Russian Cup on Snow and Ice Sculpture “Zimniy Vernissage” demonstrate main world artistic achievements in ice and snow carving, diversity of traditions in ice and snow carving from different countries and regions of Russia. The Competition gives best masters of ice and snow to compete for an honorary degree of a “Laureate of the Cup of Russia”, and it gives a right to participate with this status in the biggest international competitions of ice and snow carving of the highest level. A team-winner receives the main and the most honorary prize – Crystal Cup.
The peculiarity of the III Cup of Russia on Snow and Ice Sculpture "Zimniy Vernissage" was that it took place within the “Cultural Olympiad ‘Sochi 2014”, it became one of the first projects in the city that was supported by the Olympic Committee. More over the Competition started a Year of Museums of the Cultural Olympiad. The Competition received greetings from the President of the Organizing Committee “Sochi 2014” Dmitriy Tchernyshenko, and Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinskiy.
Winners:
First Degree Laureates, owners of the Cup of Russia-2013 in category “Snow Sculpture”, and owners of gold medals of the Competition became Inese Valtere-Ulande (Latvia) and Donatas Mockus (Lithuania), authors of the sculpture “A Quite Pray”.
The second place, title of the II Degree Laureates, silver medals went to the team representing Tumen and Moscow: Aleksander Skarednov, Ivan Smirnov, Yekaterina Trubina. Sculpture “The Time”.
III Degree Laureates, owners of the bronze medals of the competition became a team from Latvia (Agnese Rudzite, Anatolijs Kirillovs, Aleksejs Geiko) for the sculpture “An Idea”.
Special prizes:
Polukarov Memorial Award, established by the Fund of Sculptors of Russia “Edinenie”, was given to the team from Barnaul, Altay region (Aleksey Kulik, Igor Pertsev and Sergey Mozgovoy), for the work “Savioress”.
Prize of the Chairman of the Competition Jury, established by the painter Yuriy Lapshin, was given to the team from China (Pang Yu, Xianguo Meng, Haifeng Wang), sculpture “The Book of Life”.
The Competition was carried out by the Perm City Administration and Non-profit Fund of Sculptors of Russia “Edinenie”, with support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Ministry of Culture, Youth Policy and Mass Communications of Perm region.
