The List of Participants for VI Open Competition “Russian Cup of Snow and Ice Sculpture ‘Zimniy Vernissage” is Determined


The meeting of the Expert Board that had to select the participants of the Competition was in the middle of September. The application deadline passed on 5th September, down to the wire and even after that some sculptors still sent their applications.  Considering the number and quality of the applications there is a subject of inspiration – the Cup “Zimniy Vernissage” is highly rated in the professional sphere in Russia and all over the world.

The Organizing Committee of the Competition approved the terms of the event, approved the list of participants and topic of the Cup. VI Open Competition “Russian Cup of Snow and Ice Sculpture ‘Zimniy Vernissage” will take place from 13th till 19 January 2019. Perm will be visited by 22 sculptors from all over the world, they have a long artistic experience in creating ice sculpture and they are recognized masters of their art. The Cup will have one category – “Ice Sculpture”, within the project 11 unique sculpture compositions will be created.

Sculptors from China, Malaysia, Singapore and Russian cities – Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Moscow, Ryazan, St. Petersburg, Yakutsk, Yekaterinburg – will fight for the title of the best. One of the participants will represent Perm. Some of the participants are absolutely new for Perm, others are well known. For example, brothers from Ryazan the Mistrukovs – Yurii and Vladimir – will try to reassert their title of “golden” laureates and owners of the Cup which they won in 2017.

 

The topic that will unite all the participants of this year is “Japan Motifs”. The competitive selection of the participants showed that this topic is very interesting for the artists, and each of them suggested their own interpretation. The gallery of ice sculptures of the Cup promises to present traditional images evoked by the Japan motifs, as well as futuristic oned dictated by unbelievable level of contemporary development of the technologies in Japan.

 

The organizers and founders of the Russian Cup of Snow and Ice Sculpture “Zimniy Vernissage” are Administration of Perm City and Nonprofit Fund of Sculptors of Russia “Edinenie”, with support from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Ministry of Culture of Perm krai. Open competition “Russian Cup of Snow and Ice Sculpture “Zimniy Vernissage” is an author project of the Nonprofit Fund of Sculptors of Russia “Edinenie”, which takes place every other year starting from 2007.
